Thats the message behind the Frontier Country Marketing Association, a nonprofit organization that focuses on tourism in the states 12 central counties.
Sherri Rogers, executive director of Frontier Country, said that one of her favorite things to do when the weathers nice is to take a day trip to historic Guthrie and take in its beautiful, old Victorian buildings.
Festival season is upon the state. In fact, the first weekend of April heralds the return of Normans free Medieval Fair, voted one of the top 100 festivals in the country by Events Media Network.
If youre in the mood for a road trip, dont forget that the longest stretch of Route 66 runs through Oklahoma.
Theres no shortage of landmarks and quaint restaurants dotted along the Mother Road.
Frontier Country also notes that its the perfect time to visit the Oklahoma City Zoo. Warmer temps mean the animals will be up and about instead of huddling inside their respective facilities and out of the cold.
For indoor fun, Frontier Country suggests Science Museum Oklahoma or the Museum of Osteology, where hundreds of animal (and some human) skeletons are on display.
Speaking of bones, the Jasmine Moran Childrens Museum in Seminole recently acquired a replica of a T-rex skeleton. Dinosaurs are always a winning choice.
