Under the light of a full moon, City Arts Center, 3000 General Pershing, hosts Saturday’s Midnight Streak races.

Comprised of a free, 1-mile fun run and a registration-required 5K run, the annual event is a fundraiser for the center’s art-education efforts through adult classes, camps for kids, art exhibits and more.

“Sometimes, art gets kind of swept under the rug,” said Christi Jeffreys, City Arts marketing and PR manager. “But what we try to do is provide a place where people can come, adults and children, and have an artistic experience.”

Several local radio stations and Urban Addiction with Chris Hicks will provide entertainment, and cold beer and snacks will be available.

City Arts Center has partnered with Subway’s second annual OKC Weight Loss Challenge, so before the races, Subway spokesman Jared Fogle will join Mayor Mick Cornett to announce the winner of this year’s competition.

“I think the event, even if you’re not a runner, will be a lot of fun,” Jeffreys said. The 1-mile fun run begins at 10:30 p.m., while the 5K begins 30 minutes later. Interested runners may register in person.
