Tatyana Fazlalizadeh: Oklahoma is Black Opening Reception

When: Thu., Feb. 21, 5:30-7:30 p.m. 2019

Join us for the FREE opening reception of Tatyana Fazlalizadeh: Oklahoma is Black, a depiction and celebration of Oklahoma City’s rich black history. For the first major exhibition in her home state, Fazlalizadeh interviewed black residents of Oklahoma City’s Northeast side about their daily experiences with oppression, especially racism and sexism. She combines portraits with quotes from those interviews to “see the faces and voices of a people navigating deep-rooted racist environments while also creating beauty and culture in their daily lives.”
