From tools dating back to ancient Egypt to a Phillips screwdriver easily found in any toolbox today, a cache of handy items is on display at Science Museum Oklahoma, 2100 N.E. 52nd.

"The Art of the Tool" highlights the scientific artistry found within the many objects people use on a daily basis without realizing the intricacies of the inner workings of the tools themselves.

"We have the most talented exhibit staff," said Bret Mahoney, the museum's academic networking coordinator. "Looking at what they do and the tools they use to do it, it was only fitting for us to host an exhibit that shows the tool's impact on the creation of art."

The exhibit has a look similar to a construction site, with tools virtually untouched from their original forms splayed across the walls. Combining different areas of specialization, "The Art of the Tool" is a concert of physics, history and art education all wrapped into one, Mahoney said.

"We don't want people to come and learn only one thing," he said. "Instead, we take the Renaissance man approach, where more than one specific lesson is learned."

Debuting Nov. 13, the exhibit is included with the price of admission to the museum, which is $10.95 for adults, and $8.95 for seniors and children. Science Museum Oklahoma is open daily.
