On Friday, go! To “Cafe Go,” that is — City Arts Center’s 18th annual installment of “Cafe City Arts,” which allows the gallery to offer free admission to its year-round exhibits.

“It’s important for art to be free to the public, and this fundraiser is instrumental in that,” says Annah Chakola-Ramsey, City Arts Center director of development.

Guests can expect the atmosphere to be more like that of a trendy party than a typical art show, she said. Local musicians and performers will entertain attendees, and signature cocktails will be served throughout the night.

“This event in particular always has an edge to it and a great energy,” said Chakola-Ramsey. “It’s a good way to start off the new year.”

In addition to the 36 local and regional artists who will be showcasing their work, 11 local eateries will be showing off their culinary creations, as well.

“We’ve been working with a lot of great restaurants in the area, so there will be just as much an emphasis on food as there is on art,” Chakola-Ramsey said.

The “Cafe Go” reception kicks off at 7 p.m. Friday at the City Arts Center at Fair Park, 3000 General Pershing. Tickets are $50 in advance and $65 at the door. The exhibit runs through Feb. 12. For more information, call 951-0000 or visit cityartscenter.org. —Courtney Silva
