The Office: Season Five

, it's an immense pleasure, except when its emotional tone aims to depress. How many sitcoms can do that to you? On purpose? That's due to great writing for great characters, played by great actors.

As with Universal's other "Office" collections, this five-disc one is a keeper, generous in its special features. Once more, the deleted scenes could practically be considered as episodes unto themselves. To celebrate the show reaching its 100th-episode milestone, there's an eight-minute montage of 100 memorable moments that's akin to looking through family albums.

And don't think the crew isn't a family. That's the gist of a 30-minute panel at the Academy of Television Arts & Sciences. Hosted by Andy Richter, it details how the series' pieces fell together in just the right way, and why it continues to remain so strong.

For more original content, they've included the amusing on-air promos for NBC sporting events, such as the Olympics. Better are the two collections of Internet webisodes, in which Kevin tries to acquire a bank loan, and Oscar has a secret that's driving everyone crazy. Everyone but you.
