As the Plaza District's "Live on the Plaza" monthly event grows, so do the paintings of Marcus Eakers "? and somewhat literally, as his new exhibit for DNA Galleries, "Growth," addresses just that.

"Each work has a theme or visuals that relate to growth in some form, varying from the idea of growing attachments to decorative natural elements," said Eakers, a local designer/developer. "Each piece has its own little thing to say, really, but they all are unified by the plant-like imagery used that symbolizes growth."

Twenty pieces comprise the exhibit, all acrylic on mixed media, and measuring 12 inches square.

"I have always been a fan of Art Nouveau, all the botanical swashes and flourishes iconic to the style, and I have been steadily trying to incorporate some of those elements into my work," Eakers said.

Dylan Bradway, co-owner of DNA Galleries, said Eakers' work is filled with dreamlike imagery, created with a wide and saturated color palette. "Growth" opens Friday night during November's installment of "Live on the Plaza," and will remain on display through the month. "?Rod Lott
