Oklahoma fans eager to be the earliest ticket holders for U2's fall concert in Norman will have to shell out for a subscription to the band's official Web site.

Although tickets for the Oct. 17 concert at the University of Oklahoma's Gaylord Family Oklahoma Memorial Stadium go on sale April 17, pre-sale tickets will be available April 14.

Subscribers willing to pay a $50 subscription fee to U2.com can buy up to four tickets in a pre-sale that starts at 10 a.m. The pre-sale continues at noon for OU faculty, staff and students and Ford Center's e-email subscribers.

Fans can buy up to four tickets using a code e-mailed to Ford Center subscribers. OU faculty and staff can buy up to four tickets using a code e-mailed to them. The code e-mailed to OU students is only redeemable for two tickets.

Tickets range from $33 to $253 and can be purchased publicly on April 17. Tickets can be bought online via the band's Web site, the U.S. Army Box Office at the Ford Center or Ticketmaster. To order tickets by phone, call 1-800-745-3000.

On April 7, tour promoter LiveNation announced U2's show in Norman with The Black-Eyed Peas. Earlier in the month, it had not been clear whether a U2 stadium show said to be scheduled for Norman this fall, would actually take the stage.

In early March, an independent fan site reported the Irish rock band would make an Oct. 19 tour stop at the University of Oklahoma's Memorial Stadium. The site, U2log.com, reported that registered members of the band's official site would get an early chance at tickets.

Confusion grew after Live Nation reportedly removed the Norman date from its Web site while the Norman tour stop remained listed on the band's official site. "Joe Wertz and James Lovett
