So it’s notable that teens in the metro are taking an active role to ease the stress of high school.

America’s Promise Alliance recently designated Oklahoma City on its annual 100 Best Communities for Young People list based on the city’s work to increase high school graduation
rates, reduce dropouts and cultivate programs and services that make OKC
an excellent place for young people.

This is the sixth year our fair city has made the list, and for good reason.

In
announcing this year’s best list, the alliance credited MAPS for Kids,
Rebuilding Together OKC and Youth Services for Oklahoma County’s Teen
Services Board.

That
board, established in 1972, consists of students helping students. From
back-to-school supply drives to gathering food for low-income families,
the teens take an active role in bettering their community.

America’s Promise Alliance awarded OKC a $2,500 grant as part of its recognition.

Having knobby knees, acne or braces can be a lot less difficult when surrounded by peers who care.
