Want to know what should be in repeat mode on your iPod all summer long? It's "Skate with Me," a snappy little number from Dgenerate Nation, one of four unknown acts on the indie compilation "Generation V."

"Skate with Me" provides instant buoyancy, fusing Seventies disco-funk with Nineties electronica and a lackadaisical vocal delivery that nevertheless takes hold of your happy cords and yanks down hard. It's a tribute to roller skating, and sounds like it, sporting a twisted melodic bounce similar to The Chemical Brothers' "The Salmon Dance."

Dgenerate Nation's other contribution, "I Want More," is a down-tempo, laid-back track with torchy, half-rap vocals. Old Gold offers super-thick synth licks in "How Can I Be Down?," while Fiore goes the space-lounge route with "Awakening" and "True Story," as if The Doors played your local Holiday Inn.

DJ Pumpkin Patch is the other featured act, reliant on the worst kind of Eighties faux-soul sound, lacquered with Devo-esque lyrics. He's the sole blight on an otherwise healthy crop of talented, creative tapeheads.
