The answer is “yes,” if the March 5 election results are any indication.

According to the Oklahoma County Election Board, 24 percent of eligible voters in Nicoma Park cast ballots in its mayoral election and the two city council races.

On the flip side, only 7 percent of eligible voters in Oklahoma City went to the polls in the Ward 1 and Ward 7 primary elections.

Doug Sanderson, secretary of the election board, said such elections typically draw 8 to 15 percent of the eligible voters.

OKC voters have a chance to redeem themselves April 2 since both council races will be decided that day in a runoff election.
