Pulling yourself out of bed on Tuesday just to head back out to Bricktown might not seem like the ideal way to recover from New Year's Eve, but the Wormy Dog Saloon is serving a healthy dose of acoustic red dirt to help soothe your throbbing head in its "Hangover Ball."
Singer Mike McClure said the Wormy Dog has hosted similar New Year's Day shows before.
"They usually get a good turnout, because they have lots of good artists," he said. "There will be a lot of bang for the buck, so I think that'll be enough for people to pull themselves together for one more night."
McClure said he will take the stage with:
" Jason Boland,
" Stoney LaRue and
" Cross Canadian Ragweed's Cody Canada.
Also playing will be:
" Wade Bowen,
" Randy Rogers,
" Brandon Jenkins and
" Stephanie Briggs.
"This will be cool for me because it's the way we played back in Stillwater," McClure said, noting that he's finally made peace with the "red dirt" label. "Music will come from an area and it gets tagged with a scene name, but then others will come along to imitate it and it kind gets watered down. "I don't think we can help from it. That's the moniker that's been put on what we do. But I'm fine with that."
The Hangover Ball starts at 8 p.m. Tuesday at the Wormy Dog, 311 E. Sheridan. Tickets are $20 and can be purchased by calling 601-6276. "Charles Martin
