Young artists, grab your paintbrushes " it's time to free the fierce and inventive beast within! Prepare to express your wild talents at the fourth annual Jungle Gym Art Party, presented by the Oklahoma City Zoo, in partnership with the Junior League of Oklahoma City. Parents can encourage their children to get their creative juices flowing and engage in the art and craft activities from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday at the zoo's Jungle Gym Playground, 2101 N.E. 50th.

Candace Rennels, manager of marketing and public relations, said the event is a chance for children to realize art is a constant factor in their everyday lives.

"The art party celebrates the wonder and amusement of the Jungle Gym Playground, incorporating anything and everything that has to do with art," Rennels said. "We always try to incorporate our animals with the event, and last year, we had an activity called 'Paint Like a Sea Lion,' where the kids actually put the brush in their mouth to paint, just like our real sea lions do!"

Adventures this year include a "Paint Like an Ape" station, storytelling, an "edible art" cookie-decorating station and visits from costumed characters.

The party is free with regular zoo admission. For more information, call 425-0262 or visit their site.
